An accusation against a vicious crime

On June 16th, 2011, CTITV exclusively reported a brutal crime that happened in Gushan district, Kaohsiung city.  The cruel and ferocious act caused a strong public outcry.  Anyone with a conscience severely condemned the inhuman behavior.

Time: 2am – 3am, 6^th June, 2011

Location:  L.C.O.  Kaohsiung office

Event: A middle-aged well-built man walked into the arcade outside the L.C.O office He opened the cage that isolated Juliet, who was suffering from a contagious disease and thus separated from other puppies, dragged her out  and brutally abused her with a blunt instrument. The attack left Juliet with serious wounds to the head and a broken leg, which ultimately had to be amputated.

Police investigation: The police found the suspect through the recording from a street surveillance camera.  The suspect argued: “I was just playing with the dog. I had nothing to do with her injuries.”

Juliet’s status: Juliet was hospitalized as soon as possible as her condition was critical..  After the limb amputation and weeks of intensive medical attention, Juliet has returned back   to the L.C.O KHH office.  Those volunteers who had taken care of Juliet could not believe what they saw.  A once beautiful Juliet covered with shiny luxuriant black hair is now a fragile soul..  To watch Juliet trying to stand up, but just fall down again due to exhaustion has made volunteers so tearful and sad. Volunteers could not bear to see Juliet’s painful look in her eyes.

Perhaps the suspect will escape from legal prosecution due to insufficient evidence, but we know that he will face public criticism for the rest of his life.  More importantly, how can we help Juliet to stand up again, and to become what she once was, a strong, confident and adorable Juliet?  This will be the challenge facing L.C.O.  We understand that Juliet’s journey to physical and mental strength will be long and difficult, but we insist on “respecting the value of life”.  As long as Juliet does not give up, the L.C.O team will not give up, and will try every possible way to help her in this quest..
